Music and Physical Education.

MUSIC:
Throughout the year, students are exposed to a variety of musical experiences through singing, playing instruments, listening, moving and writing.
Each student in grades 1 through 3 will receive a grade for development and mastery of specific music skills and a grade for general effort and cooperation in daily music activities.
Each student in grades 4 through 6 will receive a grade in the following areas of musical skill in addition to a grade for general effort and cooperation in daily music activities: singing alone and with others, playing instruments, improvisation and composition, and reading music.
MUSIC CLASS RULES:
1. Participate in all activities.
2. Use positive and encouraging language and actions.
3. Follow directions the first time they are given.
4. Great all instruments and materials with respect.
5. Use your best singing voice at all times.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION:
Physical Education encompasses the development of the total child through cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains of learning.
*Psychomotor: Fitness, perceptual, and fundamental motor skills.
*Cognitive: Knowledge, understanding, and application of information.
*Affective: Positive self-image, acceptance of others, and group interaction.
The aim is to enhance motor skills and basal knowledge and to provide the social interaction necessary for a daily and life long foundation. In essence, the purpose of physical education is to encourage development of the total wellness of all individuals: physically, intellectually, and socially. The theme areas of the curriculum include body control, fitness, striking, receiving, and propelling. These themes will develop skills that can and will be applied in a variety of contexts.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASS RULES:
1. Wear P.E. shoes.
2. Enter and leave gym quietly.
3. Listen and follow directions.
4. Respect teacher, students and equipment.
5. Have a positive attitude.
