 | | Releasing Monarchs | Third grade at Edgewood is an exciting, challenging time in your
child's life. As part of Edgewood Science, Math, Technology
School, we teach children to inquire, ask questions, and solve real
world problems using event based projects.
Event Based Learning & Technology Integration We have two major events in third grade which will integrate multiple subjects.
- Monarch Madness: Children will observe and document the life
cycle of the monarch butterfly and create both a flip book using
digital photos and an iMovie.
- Math at the Snack Shop: Children will use math skills to
operate a school-wide snack shop two days a week. Students will be
donating profits to Feed My Starving Children to help feed children around the world. Learn More...

for integration of subject areas. The science units we explore
during the school year are:
- Measurement (metric system-linear, mass, volume, temperature)
- Structures of Life (structures of plants, crayfish, and bess beetles)
- Physics of Sound (vibrations and sound production)
- Earth Materials (properties of minerals and rocks)
